The Sucicide of the West and Why China Applauds

The West today bleeds from a thousand self-inflicted cuts.

On one side, woke ideology atomizes society into fragments of grievance. On the other, green absolutism demands a purity that risks dismantling industry faster than we can replace it. Both currents may have noble origins — justice, sustainability — but once radicalized, they cease to serve life. They become tools of paralysis.

Enter China.

Beijing does not invent our quarrels; it fans them. Its media highlights our gender wars, our protests, our economic self-sabotage. Its diplomats praise our green pledges, even as Chinese coal plants rise week after week. Its cyber-armies amplify both extremes — the zealots of the left, the rage of the right — because division is the West’s soft underbelly.

And yet, this is not clever statecraft so much as short-term opportunism. China sells cheap goods to the very societies it hopes to weaken. It forgets Henry Ford’s old truth: workers must be able to buy the cars they build. If the West collapses into poverty and incoherence, who will buy China’s exports? In trying to cut our legs, Beijing risks sawing off the branch beneath its own body.

But here is the darker twist: China is not the true enemy.

The true enemy is the West’s willingness to devour itself.

Woke or populist, green purist or nationalist demagogue — each is a mirror showing us the same disease: our loss of balance, our addiction to extremes. China merely holds the mirror higher.
The danger is not that Beijing conquers us, but that we destroy ourselves while congratulating each other for our moral superiority. And in the end, the mirror will crack — and we will discover the face staring back was always our own.
